Who would have thought that poking, throwing a sheep or a member of the Golden Girls at your friends would become a social norm? But with the proliferation of online social networking sites such as Facebook - anything and everything is possible.
According to their 'About Us' section Facebook claim to be "a social utility that connects people with friends and others who work, study and live around them". As the social network phenomena has surfed the Web2.0 wave for the past few years, sites like Myspace, bebo and Facebook have evolved rapidly, however the opportunity to monetise these avenues has been difficult.
Facebook is now the most popular social networking site in the UK and Europe with over 8 million daily users. Last year they launched a unique platform and invited developers to come and create their own applications for free. Utilising this new feature and our own ShopWindow technology we were able to create something new and expressly focused on this new generation of consumers.
Facebook Wishlist
Affiliate Window is committed to providing innovative 1st class affiliate linking methods that help you deliver an effective affiliate marketing programme. This month we have launched Wishlist, an application for Facebook that enables you to break-in to the social networking phenomena.
The question posed in every article written about social networking is "How does anyone make money from this channel?" Wishlist is the first real solution to this problem. Wishlist turns every Facebook user into a potential affiliate, that's over 10 million Facebook accounts in the UK alone!
The application encourages users to add items to their Wishlist or recommend things to their friends. Affiliate-like status is given to the users who recommend either the application or specific items. Any purchase made though a Wishlist link is tracked like a regular affiliate-generated-sale and the appropriate commission awarded. NOTE: There is one subtle difference in the commission payment; which is split evenly between the friend who recommended the application and the friend who recommended the product.
Get involved:
The application enables you to get involved in social network marketing immediately without incurring expensive development costs. Simply follow these 3 steps
1. Add a Facebook link (we have 13 for you to choose from) to your product template page
2. Add your Merchant ID and Product ID to the tracking code supplied
3. Set it live (…yes, that's all!)
Customers on your website can now click a button on your site to add products to their Facebook Wishlist without leaving your online environment.
Wishlist generate sales are tracked on your affiliate programme (like all your other sales) under one affiliate ID heading ID 75302 'Wishlist - Facebook Application'
