Programme Terms & Conditions
1. Search Activity
Publishers may not bid on or use John Lewis trademarks to gain preferential listings on Search Engines, Directories or any other kind of online database.
Johnlewis.com continually monitors search engine activity across Google, Yahoo and MSN.
1.1 Keyword Bidding (terms)
i. Publishers are NOT permitted to use any John Lewis brand term, including misspells and other variants to gain preferential listings on Google, Yahoo and MSN. Please refer to table T1 for an indicative, yet not exhaustive list of John Lewis brand terms, and table T2 for an indicative, yet not exhaustive list of common misspells.
ii. Publishers are NOT permitted to use ‘branded term + generic terms’ to gain preferential listings on Google, Yahoo and MSN. For example 'John Lewis laptops' or 'Furniture from John Lewis'.

In addition, any use of these words, other John Lewis registered trade marks, confusingly similar words or copyright is expressly forbidden and will result in the immediate termination of an Affiliate's agreement with johnlewis.com.
Affiliates' use of John Lewis's Trade Marks must be limited to the creative and text supplied by John Lewis through the interface and the network. Any other use is not permitted unless prior permission has been granted by Affiliate Window/John Lewis.

iii. See 1.4 for penalties when operating outside of these clauses.
iv. Publishers are permitted to use any keywords that do not relate to any John Lewis keywords. Examples would include ‘sofa beds’ ‘exercise bikes’ ‘special offers’.
v. It is the responsibility of the publisher to seek the advice of the John Lewis account manager if they are in doubt.
vi. Publishers are NOT permitted to bid on competitor’s brand terms to drive traffic to johnlewis.com. This includes, but is not limited to Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Dixons, Comet, House of Fraser and Next.
John Lewis would like to remind publishers about the dangers of Google’s extended/expanded broad match functionality and would strongly recommend including the term ‘john Lewis’ as a negative keyword on all campaigns in order to negate the risk of appearing on John Lewis brand terms.
1.2 Display URLs
i. Publishers are NOT permitted to use the word ‘John Lewis’ in their display URLs in any text ad, for example:
‘www.johnlewis.com’
‘johnlewis.com’
‘www.johnlewis.co.uk’
‘johnlewis.co.uk’
ii. Publishers are NOT permitted to use misspellings, or upper/lower case variants.
1.3 Landing Pages
i. All clicks must first land on the publisher’s site, and the user must click from the publisher’s site to www.johnlewis.com.
ii. Clicks must never land directly on www.johnlewis.com.
iii. Overlays and masked URLs are NOT permitted.
1.4 Penalties for acting outside of clauses
In the event of a publisher found to be in breach of these clauses, the following actions will be taken.
i. In the first instance of a publisher found to be in breach of any of the clauses detailed in 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 all pending commissions will be declined for the day of the offence, and the previous six days before the offence. John Lewis will suspend the publisher and decide the appropriate action within two working days. Only in exceptional circumstances will a publisher be reinstated after the first instance.
ii. In the second instance of a publisher found to be in breach of any of the clauses detailed in 1.1, 1.2 or 1.3 all pending commissions will be declined for the day of the offence, and the previous month before the offence. John Lewis will suspend this publisher indefinitely.
2. Coupons/Promotion codes
2.1 John Lewis no longer issue voucher or promotional codes and therefore no affiliate should be promoting codes.
2.2 Penalties for promoting rogue codes
An affiliate found to be promoting a fabricated code will be in breach of programme terms and conditions and will have pending commissions declined and may face suspension from the programme.
Other Terms
3. Email Marketing Campaigns
Email marketing (solus campaigns) must be submitted to your account manager for sign off.
4. Commission Exclusions
All orders made via the John Lewis Gift List are not commissionable. There is no commission paid on Gift Voucher purchases.
5. Disputed transactions
Affiliates must raise commission queries via normal channels within seven days of an expected payment.
6. Cashback Platforms
Affiliates operating a pure cashback model will not be approved onto the programme and any affiliate generating commissions through this method will have their commissions declined.
7. Vouchercode Directories
John Lewis has ceased working with sites designated as 'voucher code directories' as John Lewis does not issue voucher or promotional codes. Affiliates operating a vouchercode directory will not be approved onto the programme and any affiliate generating commissions through this method will have their commissions declined.
Please note, a vouchercode directory is defined as the following:
-The URL Contains the following or derivatives of these terms: ‘code’ ‘vouchercode’ ‘promotional code’ ‘voucher’ ‘coupon’
-Website appears in search engine listings under any of the terms or derivatives of those outlined above
-Website’s primary focus is to promote the use of vouchercodes
